Green Credentials

The Plant Nursery is only part of Buckerfields Green Credentials. All four apartments are heated by the latest renewable ground source heat pump technology that feed an efficient and highly effective underfloor heating system. This system produces a very comfortable radiant heat that is fully controllable in each of the Apartment rooms. Electricity consumption from the grid is also minimized by a 4KW Solar PV array on the south facing roof of the Nursery building.

Heat is drawn from the surrounding land by a large array of ground collector coils (called “slinkies” due to their coiled spring like appearance). This low grade heat drawn from the ground is then uplifted by the ground source heat pumps and feed into a manifold in each apartment, which in turn feeds the underfloor heating pipes embedded under the floors.

Here is one of four Slinkies (this one is installed under the front lawn area)

The local Renewable Energy Installer www.firegrass.co.uk ensured that all heating design requirements and room comfort levels were met by installing a web based monitoring system. This allows for real time analysis of the system with detailed data on room temperatures, heat pump efficiency, energy costs and much more.
