Story behind the experience
Spurred on by a lifelong passion for plants and being released from the ties of children at home, Sonia started a garden design business. Then, after finding it hard to source the plants she really needed, she decided to grow them herself from a small patch at the back of the house, before the disused farmyard in Buckerfields was purchased in 2003. Using reclaimed materials and a series of secondhand greenhouses, the nursery was constructed, and after seeing how much visitors loved the location Sonia and Terence applied for planning consent to convert the barn into four self catering holiday lets. With the support and assistance of the North Wessex Downs, the couple have now achieved what they hope will be beneficial for the nursery, other allied local businesses and the local tourism industry.
